Music DJ's silence the written press

In one of the biggest sporting shocks since Sunderland won the FA Cup in 1973, Isle of Wight Radio turned tables on the County Press beating their journalistic foes by 28 runs in this evenings corporate 2020 match.

Batting first Isle of Wight Radio made 146 for 9 with Andy Ball (73) and Cliff Marks (53) putting on 105 for the third wicket. Team Manager Emma Collins came in and successfully played out the last two balls of the innings to be the first adult female to take the field at Newclose.

Peter Riley, County Press 5th change bowler took for 4 wickets for 2 runs in his two overs and Editor Alan Marriott took two in two balls to help stem the Radio Stations run flow in the final overs.

In reply The County Press made 118 for 5 in their 20 overs with Jack Clutterbuck (29) and Jon Moreno (25) making the major contributions.

John Fletcher, dropped by the County Press, and picked up in the Corporate draft, gained revenge taking two for 17 in his four ov...

Rain postpones top of table clash

I now have a certain amount of sympathy for John Dyson the West Indian Coach and calculating Duckworth Lewis.

This evenings Isle of Wight County Press Corporate Twenty20 game was cancelled with Lighthouse Medical having scored 59 for 1 in 10.3 overs before rain brought both teams off.

Both teams agreed that if the weather permitted Npower would bat for 5 overs, and we set about understanding and calculating the required score.

After a few errors a target of 39 was agreed (with the software) for Npower to chase down. Unfortunately our calculations were in vain as the rain set in for the evening.

Both teams agreed that the fixture will be re-played in early July.
